Passenger terminals NAT, T1 and T2

The airport of Alicante disposes of three terminals for regular passenger transport:

  • Passenger terminal building: also known as Terminal NAT (New Terminal Area) or "New Terminal".
  • Terminal T1: currently closed.
  • Terminal T2: currently closed.

Terminales T1 and T2 are connected through an interior passageway, but both are currently closed to the public.

Due to its strategic location on the Mediterranean coast, the main international destinations from Alicante airport are the UK, Germany and the Netherlands. The main national destinations are Adolfo Suárez Madrid-Barajas in Madrid, Barcelona El Prat and Palma de Mallorca. The new terminal has increasing the annual airport capacity up to 20 million passengers per year, occupying the sixth place among the Spanish airports.

In July 2013, the name of the arport was officially changed from Alicante airport to Alicante-Elche airport, although sometimes it is still popularly known as El Altet.

Flight classification: Schengen and others

Flights are usually classified in three groups, depending on their origin or destination. Schengen, EU Non Schengen and third countries.

Schengen Associated Countries:

Flights, from or to countries which signed the Schengen Agreement.
Citizens of these countries may move freely across the interior borders. International Inter-Schengen flights as well as domestic flights are subject to the Schengen Agreement. The Schengen territory is composed by: Germany, Austria, Belgium, Denmark, Estonia, Finland, France, Germany, Greece, Hungary, Italy, Iceland, Latvia, Lithuania, Luxembourg, Malta, Norway, Netherlands, Poland, Portugal, Spain, Czech Republic, Slovak, Swiss and Swedish.

Non Schengen EU Countries:

Flights, from or to countries, belonging to the European Union, which did not sign the Schengen Agreement.
Citizens of the following countries may not move freely across the inter-Schengen borders: Bulgaria, Croatia, Cyprus, Ireland, United Kingdom and Romania.

Third Countries:

Flights, from or to countries, not belonging to the European Union, which did not sign the Schengen Agreement.

Alicante-Elche airport terminals

Passenger Terminal NAT - Alicante airport

Opened on 23 March 2011, the New Terminal NAT is capable of handling up to 20 million passengers per year, nearly 6,000 passengers per hour. This terminal is the only currently in service

Terminal NAT building consist of 4 floors: level 3, level 2, level 0 and level -2.

The passenger terminal NAT provides the following services:

Flights: terminal Departures

Departures hall: level 2.
Ticket offices for airlines operating at the airport.
International and domestic Departures.

Check-in:

Departures hall: level 2.
96 domestic and international check-in counters, level 2.
2 special baggage check-in counters (E01 and E02), level 2.
Self check-in Iberia.

Boarding area:

Access to the boarding area is usually through the security checkpoints located at Departures hall level 2, north side. The boarding area is split into two areas, The Processor (main building), and The Dock (on the side of the main building). The boarding area has passport checkpoint depending on the destination.

Boarding gates:

Passenger Terminal NAT has 26 boarding gates and 15 airbridges distributed in the two boarding areas:The Processor, and The Dock.

  • The Dock boarding gates, level 2: gates B21, B22-B23, B25-B26, B27-B29, B30-B31, B32-B33, and B34-B35.
  • The Processor boarding gates, level 2: gates C37-C38, C39-C40, C41-C42, C43-C45, C46-C47, C48-C49, and C50.

Flights: terminal Arrivals

Arrivals hall: level 0.
Domestic and international Arrivals.

Baggage claim, immigration control and Customs:

Level 0.
Arrivals area has passport checkpoint depending on the flight origin.
16 baggage carousel, two of them baggage carousel for special baggage.
Customs: level 0, baggage claim area.
Lost luggage: level 0, baggage claim area.

Terminal T1 - Alicante airport

At present, terminal T1 of the Alicante- elche airport is currently closed to the public.

The former terminal T1, currently closed to the public, extends over three floors ( level 1 and level 0 and level -1), and is located between Passenger Terminal NAT and terminal T2, which is also closed to the public. The terminal T1 is connected to the terminal T2 trough an internal corridor.

Flights: T1 Departures

T1 Departures hall: level 1.

Check-in:

Check-in: Departures hall, T1 level 1.
38 check-in counters, (from nº1 to nº38) and one for special baggage (nº39) , T1 level 1.

Boarding area:

Access to the boarding area is through the security checkpoints located at Departures hall level 1, where all the gates are located, with passaport checkpoint depending on the flight destination.

Boarding gates:

Terminal T1 has twelve boarding gates, and five airbridges.

  • T1 level 1: gates from 1 to 10.
  • T1 level 1: 2 special gates (1B and 4B).

Flights: t1 Arrivals

Arrivals hall T1: level 0.

Baggage claim:

T1 level 0.
9 baggage carousel.
Customs: T1 level 0, baggage claim area.
Lost luggage: level 0, baggage claim area.

Terminal T2 - Alicante airport

At present, terminal T2 of the Alicante- elche airport is currently closed to the public.

The former terminal T2 was opened in January 2007 as auxiliary terminal, increasing the airport operational capacity more than 20%. The terminal T2 is adjacent to Terminal 1, by side west, and both connected trough an internal corridor.
The terminal T2 is currently closed to the public.

Flights: T2 Departures

Departures hall: level 1.

Check-in:

Departures hall, T2 level 1.
14 check-in counters, from nº 51 to nº 64, T2 level 1.

Boarding area:

Access to the boarding area is through the security checkpoints located at Departures hall level 1, where all the gates are located, with passaport checkpoint depending on the flight destination.

Boarding gates:

Terminal T2 has six boarding gates, none with airbridges.

  • T2 level 1: gates from 21 to 26.

Flights: T2 Arrivals

Arrivals hall: level 0.

Baggage claim:

T2 level 0.
2 baggage carousel.
Customs: T2 level 0, baggage claim area.
Lost luggage: level 0, baggage claim area.
